University of Texas at Dallas Selects
Nortex
Modular Space In April of 2000, the purchasing department of the University of Texas at
Dallas requested proposals for the construction of a 12,000 square foot
relocatable classroom building to contain 12 classrooms and restroom facilities
(all under one roof), at its Richardson, Texas campus.
After careful consideration of the six offers that were made, UT Dallas
selected Nortex Modular Space and issued a purchase order on May 22, 2000. A
number of options were offered, by Nortex, to enhance the quality of the
building and the final value of the contract was $439,543.00 or just under
$40.00 per square foot.
The contract price included the concrete foundation, water, sewer and
electrical utility connections, concrete handicap ramp, decks and steps,
guttering and downspouts, fire alarm system, an interior ceiling height of 8’8”,
commercial grade fixtures, windows and doors, fire-rated, ten-foot corridors,
janitors closet, male and female restrooms, a telecommunications closet, a
single ply membrane roof and a stucco exterior finish. Exterior lighting and
commercial glass entrance doors were also included.
All aspects of the project comply with State and Federal Codes.
The project was completed and accepted by UT Dallas on August 1, 2000 in a
remarkable time period of just 71 days after the award of
the contract.
